Nutrition support for IBS

Have you got IBS? This plan will help you to improve your symptoms.

Do you experience diarroea, constipation, alternating diarroea and constipation, bloating, or abdominal pain? Have you been diagnosed (or suspect you may have) Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)? I can help.

IBS symptoms can flare and change over time, making it difficult to identify patterns and triggers.

We don’t know exactly what causes IBS, but according to research around one in seven people have it. Yet, only 1/3 of these cases have been formally diagnosed.

IBS doesn’t cause long-term harm to your bowel and it is not medically dangerous. However, it is painful, uncomfortable and can seriously impact your quality of life.

Who is it for?

Whether you have been diagnosed with IBS or you think you may have it, this plan will help you to better understand what dietary changes can help you. Together, we will explore what foods trigger your symptoms and come up with a plan that will allow you to have a balanced, enjoyable diet that minimises your discomfort and allows you to live your life to the full.

We will first do a comprehensive assessment to see what approach best suits you. We usually start by checking if simple changes with no major food restrictions are helping your symptoms. If this doesn’t work, we can consider implementing a “strict” low FODMAP diet, or its less restrictive version. For more information on the FODMAP diet please see here.

What you get:

  • Access to a secure, GDPR compliant telehealth platform that is available on your browser or through an app that you can download to your mobile or tablet. If you are not comfortable using the telehealth platform, we can communicate via email.
  • One initial 60-minute online consultation (by video call or by phone, whichever you prefer), while we’ll decide what’s the most suitable approach for you and come up with an action plan.
  • Three (3) 30-minute follow-up consultations. These usually take place every one to two months. Timings will be agreed with you depending on your needs and the approach we decide to go with.
  • Written material that will support you with your goals.
  • Online food diaries that will give us valuable information about your symptom frequency and potential triggers.
  • Continuous personalised support through direct messaging

How long does the plan last, and how much does it cost?

The plan costs £350/400 and includes four (4) online sessions, access to online food and symptom diaries, written material and unlimited contact with me via the online chat. This plan usually lasts 4-6 months depending on the action plan we agree on.

How it Works

Step 1: I’ll give you access to the telehealth platform through which you will complete the assessment form; this will help me learn about your current health, the challenges you face, and the goals you want to achieve. Everything is online, so you don’t need to print or scan documents.

If you are not comfortable using the telehealth platform, we can communicate via email and telephone.

Step 2: During our initial 60-min consultation, we’ll have a detailed chat about your history, needs, and goals and agree on your individual action plan.

Step 3: I’ll send you written material and full guidance on how to successfully implement the advice into your lifestyle. You also get detailed advice on how to keep your online food and symptom journals.

Step 4: I will review your online food and symptom journals so we can monitor any changes in your symptoms and provide additional support when you need it. You’ll also be asked to complete a short questionnaire to record your struggles and successes. This will be done weekly during the first month, and we will then decide what frequency is more suitable for you.

Step 5: During follow-up consultations, we’ll revisit your goals and update your resources as needed. I use several behaviour change tools and techniques to keep you motivated and focused on your goals; this makes the whole process smoother, so you get the results you want easily. If you have questions between consultations, you can use the telehealth platform direct messaging or send me an email.
